Photographer: Brett Jackman Digital Developing: Brett Jackman
Theme: “Art of Architecture” Comments: Image so named because it reminded me of a futuristic gun or spaceship out of Starship Troopers or Robocop or something Wheeled out as part of my "Archives Raid" Project - [link]
Location: Apartment Building, Canberra Australia Tools of the Trade: Nikon D700 and driving there 3 times across the span of a day waiting for the light to be right
I like it simply because I love anything black and white with depth. It strikes the eye in such a strange fashion. With people simply changing the color from color to black and white can create an emotional change enhancing the very message or even changing the message of a single photo.
However with buildings, tho they are just standard structures, with a color change as described above you can actually add emotions to the feeling of a building. See what kind of spirit lurks within the walls and windows of the structure.
Now with this particualr photo I love the up angle creating more power within the strength of the building as oppose to just showing how tall it is. Here it feels more like it's standing or still growing. The color changes it to feel old tho the shine portrayed through from the light hitting the building before the effect change suggests it's a newer building or recently updated one.
Uniqueness I love the three tiered balconies with no more going above them. Almost like a persoanl restuarant and hotel above it underneath business rooms.
All in all it's just different with some skill to enhance the overall shot. Good work.
